At approximately 9:16 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a report of a woman who had been stabbed at a residence in a trailer park located in the 3200 block of Old Pioneer Road in Beaver Dam, Arizona, Mohave County Sheriff’s Spokeswoman Patricia Carter said in a statement.

The Department of Public Safety responded to the scene, as well as medical personnel who transported a 57-year-old woman with a large laceration to her face to a hospital in Mesquite, officials said.

After deputies searched the residence and no one was located, Carter said, deputies spoke with nearby neighbors.

“Investigations determined that the victim’s husband, Derrell Dean Reed, had stabbed her during an argument,” Carter said in the statement. “Deputies searched the immediate area without locating Reed.”

A search warrant was granted to search the scene, officials said. At approximately 3 a.m. Monday, deputies located Reed not too far away from his residence and took him into custody without incident.

“A search of Reed revealed a pocket knife with dried blood,” Carter said.

Reed was arrested and booked into the Mesquite Jail on a felony count of aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon per domestic violence.

Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.
