KANAB — Australian country music sensation Roo Arcus is performing live in concert Friday during the “Western Legends Roundup” in Kanab, an annual festival celebrating the town’s starring role as the backdrop for movies in the Western genre.
Country music singer and songwriter Jared Rogerson will be the opening act at the concert, which will take place at 7 p.m. in the Kanab High School Auditorium.
Arcus was a 2016 Golden Guitar Award Finalist for Male Artist of the Year and has been nominated for Toyota Heritage Song of the Year. Arcus returned to the music scene in 2012 with his remarkable comeback album “This Here Cowboy.” This album had two No. 1 hit radio singles and the title track was named song of the year.
His success has continued with the release of his next album, critically acclaimed “Cowboys & Sunsets,” which was recorded in the U.S. and includes a duet with “the Queen of Bluegrass” Rhonda Vincent. Arcus has played to sold-out audiences all around Australia and has twice been named an official Country Music Association artist in Nashville, Tennessee.
“We are so excited to have Roo coming back to Western Legends this year. The Office of Tourism invested in him as a performer because he’ll captivate the next generation of Western Legends attendees. His modern, yet traditional country music will appeal to the young and young at heart.” said Camille Johnson, director of tourism in Kane County.
This is an amazing opportunity to see the cattleman from Australia who has country music and country life in his roots and in his soul, a press release for the event said.
Tickets are $30 each and are available online.
