Robbery scuffle sends man to hospital, suspect at large

ST. GEORGE — A suspect is at large after entering the home of a man and robbing him; the man suffered minor injuries during the confrontation before the suspect got away with stolen property Saturday night.

At approximately 10:18 p.m., St. George Police responded to the area of 1350 W. 750 North on a report of a robbery.

A man was entering his home when someone approached him and stole some of his property, St. George Police Lt. Curtis Spragg said.

During the confrontation, the resident was wounded after falling. No weapons were used during the robbery, though police are categorizing the incident as an assault, Spragg said.

The suspect fled from the scene. Police obtained only vague description of a male wearing khaki pants and a sweater.

The man sustained minor injuries and was transported by Gold Cross Ambulance to the hospital for evaluation.

Several police units circulated the general area looking for anyone matching the suspect’s clothing description. Officers on foot searched the neighborhood and a nearby field for any possible evidence in the direction the suspect reportedly fled.

Two young men were detained and questioned at a nearby Taco Bell restaurant but were cleared by police after questioning, Spragg said.

The suspect remained at large at the time this report was taken.

Washington County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the incident.

    This could of been so much worse than it was I’m glad there were no loss of life or serious injury. but I have faith in the local law enforcement and the criminal will be arrested and prosecuted. Praise the Lord !
