ST. GEORGE — December brings two featured artists to the Arrowhead Gallery Etc, a cooperative venture between the City of St. George and the Southern Utah Art Guild, which sits alongside the Electric Theater in the city’s Historic Downtown district.

The gallery, located at 68 E. Tabernacle St., features two Utah artists, Evalyne “Evie” Thompson Atkin and Harold Tanner, throughout the month with a featured-artist reception Dec. 16 from 6-8 p.m., which is open to the public.

Arrowhead Gallery Etc displays a variety of visual mediums – painting, photography, jewelry, ceramics and metal – from some 35-plus artists participating in the Southern Utah Art Guild. Artists can be new to their craft or accomplished professionals in keeping with the guild’s collective aim to promote the growth and development of such art in Southern Utah. More information about the endeavors of the guild, events and educational opportunities is available on the SUAG website.

About December’s artists

Evalyne Thompson Atkin was born and raised in Southern Utah, which has influenced and inspired much of her work. She is owner and operator of Atkin Draperies where she designs draperies with several well-known designers. As a child her drawings and sculpting adorned the family home. Her self-taught artistic pursuits have evolved into gourd fine art which can be viewed at the Arrowhead Gallery and the gallery’s website.

Harold Tanner’s artistic talents took him into window display. He has won five Gold Medals from Display World Magazine and a 1st place award in the National Westinghouse window contest. He became an International Society of Interior Designers professional interior designer by attending BYU, University of Utah and the New York School of Interior Design. He was the design chair for the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center Designer Homes for 8 years. He shows in galleries in Colorado, Arizona and Utah with his studio in the Arrowhead Gallery.
