Wanda Luella Welch Johnson, age 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep Nov. 7, 2016. She was born Sept. 27, 1932, in Mansfield, Pennsylvania, to Verne D. and Edna L. Cleveland Welch. Both Wanda’s parents had passed away by the time she was 12 years old.
In Denver, Colorado, Wanda married William E. Johnson on July 22, 1951, and their union was blessed with two sons. In 1955, they moved their family to Spokane, Washington, and there she remained for the majority of her life. Wanda worked as a telephone operator for AT&T.
Wanda enjoyed doing genealogy and traveling to the various time shares she owned. That is where she met her husband, Frank Arnold. After they were married they would spend summers in Spokane and winters in St. George. Wanda and Frank finally made the permanent move to St. George in 2014.
Wanda is survived by her husband, Frank Arnold, St. George, Utah; son, Jim (Laurie) Johnson, Durham, North Carolina.; daughter-in-law, Kathy Johnson, Spokane, Washington; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her first husband, William, and son, Allen Johnson.
She will be laid to rest with her husband and son in the Greenwood Cemetery, Spokane, Washington.
