ST. GEORGE – A short-lived vehicle fire in a parking lot just off St. George Boulevard brought out the firefighters Tuesday evening.
Around 8 p.m. the St. George Fire Department responded to the call of a truck fire in the parking lot of O’Reilly Auto Parts on St. George Boulevard, St. George Fire Battalion Chief Darren Imlay said.
“Our crews responded (and) put it out in just a minute or two,” Imlay said.
The cause of the fire was unknown, yet started in the engine compartment of the Ford F-250 where it was primarily contained, though a small part of the fire did spread into the cab.
The driver of the pickup had stopped at the auto parts store in order to get parts to address a potential mechanical issue.
The fire ignited while he was inside the store. As the driver was the only one traveling in the Ford, no one was harmed.
Two fire engines responded to the scene, as did St. George Police and a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy.
The Ford’s driver was passing through St. George on his way to Colorado when the incident occurred.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
