ST. GEORGE – A rear-end collision during heavy evening traffic on St. George Boulevard sent one woman to the hospital Friday.
Around 5:50 p.m. in the area of St. George Boulevard and 800 East, the driver of a Toyota Highlander was westbound in the fast lane when she came to a stop.
Unfortunately the car behind the Toyota, a Dodge Charger, did not come to a stop, St. George Police Officer Dave McDaniel said.
The Charger hit the back of the Highlander, which resulted in the driver of the Charger being taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries, McDaniel said.
The Charger was towed from the scene.
While one lane of westbound traffic was closed off by police as they dealt with the scene, motorists were still able to get by without much trouble.
The crash is under investigation and no citations were immediately issued.
Gold Cross Ambulance and the St. George Fire Department also responded to the scene.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
