News short: Failure to yield pushes car off road, into bushes

ST. GEORGE — An SUV turning left from Bluff Street failed to yield to a car coming the other way and the resulting collision sent one car flying into the bushes of a local business.

“We had a two-vehicle collision at 700 South (and) Bluff Street,” St. George Police Officer Andy Mickelson said. “Vehicle one was attempting to make a left turn onto 700 South from Bluff Street.”

The vehicle was a Honda CR-V southbound on Bluff. As it attempted to turn left at 700 South, the Honda collided with a northbound Hyundai.

The force of the collision pushed the Hyundai off a small embankment in front of a local business, through a fence and into the bushes.

Mickelson said airbags were deployed in the Hyundai, and no injuries were reported in either vehicle.

The driver of the Honda CR-V was cited for failure to yield on a left turn, Mickelson said.

Units from the St. George Police and Fire departments and Gold Cross Ambulance personnel responded to the scene.
