ST. GEORGE – Hold on to your ectoplasm, folks. Silver Reef Museum’s popular “Ghost Nights”  historical walking tour is back for two evenings only, Friday and Saturday. And this year’s event is bigger and better than ever.

Along with the bygone spirits from Silver Reef’s heyday, “Ghost Nights” will feature a “Ghost Talk” after the tour. Sit around the warm fire ring behind Rice Bank to hear some real ghost stories as the chill of the night and the ruins of Silver Reef surround you.

Historical figures in character from Silver Reef and Southern Utah will be spaced throughout Silver Reef, and groups will walk to each setting and be able to hear a different tale of living, working and being involved in the wild shenanigans of the old mining town.

Sturdy shoes and a flashlight are recommended due to the uneven terrain that guests will be walking.

After the tour, join historical characters back at the Cosmopolitan building (next door to the museum) for refreshments, then stroll through the museum to pick up your free bag of “silver” in the gift shop and enjoy a ghost story or two being told around the fire ring behind Rice Bank. Total event time is approximately two hours.

In the event of ghastly weather, the tour will be moved into the Cosmopolitan building for a spirited evening.

The “Ghost Nights” tour will start at 7 p.m. There will be also be a separate special matinee event Saturday at 5 p.m. in the Cosmopolitan building for those who would rather not walk around in the dark. Guests should arrive 15 minutes early to have time to check in and line up with their group.

Admission for both the special matinee and each night’s tour event is $6 per person with reservations or $8 the day of the event.

For reservations call 435-879-2254 or go to the Silver Reef Ghost Nights event webpage for the official sign up form.  When making a reservation guests are asked to indicate which event they wish to attend, the size of group attending and to provide a contact number.
