Car show, carnival celebrates heroes, raises awareness for Project Lifesaver

ST. GEORGE — For anyone looking to start the Halloween festivities a little early and participate in a good cause at the same time, Car Guys Care and Desert Sports Management are holding the “All Heroes’ Walk,” “First Responders Appreciation Car Show” and Halloween carnival Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 150 East 1160 South in St. George.

The activities are being held in appreciation of the first responders’ dedication and service to the community, as well as raise awareness of Project Lifesaver, a rapid response system for adults and children at risk. Working in conjunction with local law enforcement, Project Lifesaver provides electronic wristbands to anyone who may wander due to Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism, Down Syndrome and other similar disorders.

The All Heroes’ Walk begins at 10 a.m, with registration opening at 8:30 a.m. Cost is $5 per person or $25 per family. To preregister online, visit the St. George Car Shows website.

The carnival and car show will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with carnival games, trunk or treating, free prizes, bounce houses, food trucks, an opportunity drawing and more.

First responders participating in the walk, festivities and car show include city of St. George officials; police officers from St. George, Hurricane, Santa Clara, Ivins and LaVerkin; firefighters from St. George, Santa Clara and Ivins; the Washington County Sheriff’s Office; Gold Cross; Intermountain Life Flight; and units from the 141st and 222nd National Guard.

Registration for the car show is $30 per vehicle and $15 for each additional vehicle. Entry fee includes a T-shirt, dash plaque and goody bag. Awards will be given for best of show, people’s choice, first responder’s choice and more. Registration and additional information is available online or by emailing [email protected].
