MESQUITE — The City of Mesquite Fire Department issued a reminder notice last week of its policy, instituted in April, that it will no longer be issuing burn permits within the city limits for any purpose.

The policy prohibits open burning for residential and commercial purposes but the city offers two options when such disposal or burning is required:

  1.  Load the material in your personal vehicle and transport it to the City of Mesquite Landfill located at 3200 Mesquite Heights Road. The landfill can be reached by telephone to 702-346-5396 or online. The landfill is open Monday-Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  2. Contact Virgin Valley Disposal Inc. online to discuss options for a temporary construction dumpster to be delivered for your use while clearing debris. Fees based on your zip code are provided on the disposal company’s website.

“We understand this may be an inconvenience for some,” Mesquite Fire Chief Kash Christopher said,  “however, since we have a disposal service, or collection service, available for such material within our jurisdiction, we are required to follow Section 42 of Clark County Regulations. Thank you for your understanding.”
