ST. GEORGE — The Oktoberfest edition of George Streetfest is in the books and if the many smiling faces seen in Historic Downtown St. George Friday are any indication, it was likely a success. The event drew hundreds if not thousands of people downtown to enjoy a night of good food, friends and fun set under a luminous “Cheshire Cat” moon.
Vendors and buskers lined Main Street as tantalizing smells filled the air and revelers danced, laughed and played. Entertainment and eats abounded both on Main Street and in the Desert Pulse Jazz Garden held in the Ancestor Square courtyard.
Wine, beer (jazz garden only) and an assortment of non-alcoholic “beers” such as root beer and apple beer were served in a nod to the evening’s Oktoberfest theme.
But it was the energetic musical acts that shone the brightest Friday night. From street performers to stage stealers, musical acts like Sound and Stone — a perennial favorite busker duo who made their way from the sidelines to headlining at the jazz garden — Tom Bennett, Misty Frampton, Goldensuns and Lyndy Butler had the crowds toe-tapping all night long.
St. George News TGIF co-hosts Sheldon Demke and Hollie Reina hit the First Friday festival to capture all the sights and sounds. Please enjoy the photo gallery and video.

We had a grand time the place was packed and everybody was having a good time. it was well organized. thank you to all those involved in putting this together.
Looks like fun, wish I could have gone, I have the dirndl dress and all. But there is no parking downtown for any events.. And being held during senior games makes it more difficult. But glad to see. Events like this in at George, I’ve been here 21 yrs and realizes many issues have changed, especially the drinks.. Keep it up..
mmsandie. parking is an issue for the downtown area. and I don’t see any solution to the problem in the near future. there is just never enough space to park when they hold activities there. hopefully they are looking to do something about it. it was well organized and everybody was having a great time.
Of course tax dollars are chipped in because it is nice.
