Lanelle Rose Potter passed away on Sept. 29 in Salt Lake City, Utah, at the age of 92. She was born Feb. 10, 1924, in Blacksville, West Virginia, to Earl and Anna Rose, the eldest of eleven children.
Lanelle met her future husband, Albert Lamond Potter, while he was stationed in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. They were married July 28, 1944, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. In 1946, they moved to Minersville, Utah, where they raised their three children. Lanelle and her sweetheart were later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of The church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for time and all eternity on Dec. 5, 2000.
Lanelle was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She enjoyed many hours in the temple completing ordinance work for her ancestors.
Lanelle loved sewing, quilting, canning and traveling. But most of all she loved being a grandmother to all her grandchildren, great and great-great-grandchildren. She often said she couldn’t remember a time “without a baby on her hip.” Lanelle enjoyed going on hunting trips with Albert in their motor home. She was always known to speak her mind.
She is survived by her children Deanna Potter Bradshaw of Salt Lake City, Utah, Rosalee Cumberledge (Dave) of Carter Lake, Iowa, and David Potter (Mary) of Beaver Dam, Arizona; daughter-in-law Nerene Potter of West Jordan, Utah; 14 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 12 great great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by sisters, Peggy Zimmerman of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, and Joretta Balsinger of Youngstown, Ohio; and her best friend of 65 years, Dorothy Carter.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Albert; granddaughters, Trena Lynn Potter and Wendy Jean Potter; five brothers and three sisters.
