Glen Robert Penrose, age 89, passed away Sunday, Oct. 2, with family around him. Glen was born July 16, 1927, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Edwin Ray Penrose and Gunda Weidner Penrose. Glen graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City, as well as the University of Utah, and later joined the Navy from 1945–1946.

Glen worked for himself as a service station owner then traveled for Sinclair Oil Co. in Denver, Colorado, and later managed Dunn Oil Co. in Salt Lake City. He was on the board of directors of Premium and Quality Oil Companies in Salt Lake City, Utah.

The Penrose philosophy was always “Play together.” Glen loved, boating, water skiing and new cars. He was a true gentleman.

Glen is survived by his wife of 69 years, Barbara Guiver Penrose; his children Patricia Penrose Moore (Scott) of Hooper, Utah, Steven Penrose (Eileen) of Dammeron Valley, Utah, Gary Penrose (Julene) of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Jeff Penrose (Kristen) of Salt Lake City, Utah; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all.

Funeral services

  • A graveside service will be held Friday, Oct. 7, at 11 a.m. at Tonaquint Cemetery, 1777 S. Dixie Drive, St. George, Utah.

Glen’s family would like to thank the entire staff of Spring Gardens Memory Care and especially the nurses who gave so much compassion and care as well as hospice for the care and support during his last days.
