FEATURE — Practically everyone has a computer and internet access today. Useful and fun websites are fun to discover and pass on. That’s what this is all about.

Useful Website

Ninite for Windows 10, 8.x, 7 and XP SP3

Ninite may not solve all your problems. But it can make computer life a lot easier for you. Loads of free software awaits you on this site – all there for the taking. Check the boxes of the software you wish to download and click Get Installer. Ninite will automatically determine what version of the software you need, and install it for you.

Here’s the selling point of Ninite: It says “no” to toolbars, junk programs, choices and options. It simply does what you probably would in the first place, namely install in a default location while telling the program that, no, you do not wish to install the all-new WhizBang toolbar and the new StealYourInfo browser. It’s simple and it simply works.

Updates are simple as well. Rerun the installer and it will download and update the latest version.

Recommended programs available on Ninite:

  • Chrome web browser. Still the best.
  • Google Earth. Fascinating look at the world we live in. Take virtual trips around the world.
  • Thunderbird E-mail client. Lightweight, replaces Outlook and Windows Live Mail.
  • Revo Uninstaller – uninstalls programs clean, doesn’t leave residuals behind.
  • IrfanView – a lightweight photography program. Not as powerful as Photoshop, but will do most of what the average person wants to accomplish.
  • LibreOffice – an office suite comparable to the Microsoft products – but free. It will read and save in Microsoft formats, as well.
  • Malwarebytes – This is a must have. Cleans malware off your machine.

Fun Website

Pogo has been around for years. It’s still one of the best game websites out there.

You can subscribe for $40 per year and enjoy ad-free gaming and exclusive games only available to subscribers, or you can play the free games and watch ads between the games. Your choice. Either way, the games are well done and fun.

Selected games on Pogo:

  • Aces Up
  • Tri-Peaks Solitaire
  • Pogo Bowl
  • World Class Solitaire
  • Word Whomp
  • Tumble Bees

Useless Website

The Pointer

This one is difficult to describe. Hold your mouse pointer at various places in the box, and … well, you’ll see. Totally useless and fascinating. How many pictures has this guy put in there?
