LeNore Hafen Hobbs

LeNore Hafen Hobbs, age 92, passed away Monday, Sept. 5. She was born Nov. 13, 1923 in St. George, Utah.

LeNore was the ninth of 14 children born to Arthur Knight (A. K.) Hafen and Orilla Woods Hafen. LeNore attended Dixie High School and Dixie College.

She was married on Nov. 29, 1942, to Raymond Leon Hobbs in St. George, Utah. The two met while Ray was serving in the Army Corp as a flight instructor at the Dixie airfield. They raised their family in California. LeNore has made it her life’s mission to serve her family, her church and her community. After her husband Ray’s passing in 1992, she returned to her beloved Dixie to live out the remainder of her years.

Their children are Marilyn Carroll and spouse Loren Carroll (Laguna Beach, California), Vallorie Carlson and spouse Daryl Carlson (Indiana) and Alison Tanner and spouse Roland Tanner (Henderson, Nevada).

They have 12 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

LeNore’s surviving siblings are Ruth Squire, Eldon Hafen, Erma Harris, Kelton Hafen and Donald Hafen. Lenore was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Hobbs; her parents, A.K. and Orilla Hafen; siblings Kay, Linford, Kenny, Farrell, Hershel and Harold Hafen; Carma Staheli; Ada Neilson and great-granddaughter Brianna Carroll.

Funeral services

  • Funeral services will be Saturday, Sept. 10, at noon at the Quail Valley Ward Chapel, 1762 S. River Road, St. George, Utah.
  • There will be a viewing prior to services from 10-11:30 a.m. at the chapel.
  • Interment will take place in the Loma Vista Memorial Park, Fullerton, California.
