ST. GEORGE — The National Park Service turns 100 Thursday and the nation is invited to celebrate with free entrance to all 412 national parks Thursday through Sunday. In addition to fee-free days several parks will host celebratory activities.

Below is a list of activities at national parks and monuments near St. George and Cedar City:

Thursday

• Rangers will lead a guided hike into Horseshoe Canyon Thursday at 8 a.m. to celebrate the National Park Service centennial.
• The National Park Service and the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services will hold naturalization ceremonies in several national parks including Grand Canyon National Park.
• Founder’s Day activities and ranger talks will take place throughout the day in Capitol Reef National Park.
• Activities and information about the National Park Service centennial will be presented at the Moab Information Center.
• A Centennial Celebration and First Light Ceremony will be held at Great Basin National Park Visitor Center in Baker, Nevada.
• Celebrate the National Park Services 100th birthday with a National Park film Festival held at the Arches National Park Visitor Center.
• The Fremont Street Experience in Las Vegas will present “Find Your Park on Fremont Street.” Find Your Park videos and digital displays will play throughout the evening. The displays are showcased in partnership with Lake Mead National Recreation Area.

Friday

• Join Community Artist in the Parks Maddie Logowitz at The Needles area of Canyonlands National Park. Bring art supplies, or just come to chat.

Saturday

• Historic Bryce Canyon Ruby’s Inn will host the “Bryce Canyon Rim Run and Walk,” a 5-mile scenic run or walk through ponderosa pines with views of Bryce Canyon.
• The Bryce Canyon Airport will host the third annual “Bryce Canyon Fly-in and Car Show.” Guests are invited to come view classic planes and cars, eat lunch prepared by area Boy Scout troops and enjoy an airport open house.
• Point Supreme at Cedar Breaks National Monument will host a summer star party at dark. Learn about the night sky with a ranger talk and look through telescopes at 10,000 feet.

Thursday-Sunday

• Grand Canyon National Park will celebrate Founder’s Day Thursday through Sunday. This park-wide celebration will feature food, special programs, a train exhibit, a naturalization ceremony and a concert.
