Bill Whitaker

Bill Whitaker passed away peacefully Saturday, July 30, at age 87 in St. George, Utah. He was born to Harold and Marie Whitaker in Toledo, Ohio. Bill grew up and developed a love for fishing on Lake Erie with his grandfather in the 1930s and 40s. After high school he attended the University of Toledo for a few years before joining the Army in 1950. After serving in the Army, he returned to the University of Toledo and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business.

After college he decided in 1955 to move to Los Angeles and pursue a career in banking. He eventually met his wife of 59 years, Ann Anderson. They were married in April of 1957, and in two years their daughter Susan and son John were born. In 1960, he moved the family to Ventura to pursue a career in real estate. In 1961, their daughter Debbie was born. In 1968, he moved the family to Bakersfield, working for the Department of Human Services. In 1994, he moved to St. George, Utah, to enjoy his retirement years.

Bill was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and enjoyed researching genealogy. He loved fishing, playing Bridge, playing his piano, traveling and spending time with his family.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Susan Whitaker Kitchen. He is survived by his wife, Ann; daughter Debbie; son John (and wife, Kim); son-in-law Bill Kitchen; grandchildren Brittany Whitaker Moody (and husband, Josh) and Thomas Whitaker; and great-granddaughter Emery Moody.

Bill was a loving husband and father and will be greatly missed by everyone.
