Miriam Imlay

Miriam ImlayAugust 2, 1937 — July 24, 2016

Miriam Hafen Imlay, our dear wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on July 24, 2016, due to complications from the brutal Alzheimer’s disease.

Miriam was born August 2, 1937, in Santa Clara, Utah, to Clair and Glenna Tobler Hafen. She graduated from Dixie High School where she was a cheerleader and attended Dixie College. Miriam met the love of her life, Blaine Imlay, while working at the local Dairy Queen. They were married in the St. George LDS Temple and have been married for 60 years.

A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Miriam served faithfully in many stake and ward callings; she truly loved serving as Young Women and Relief Society president.  She was an athlete who dominated in fast-pitch softball. Miriam was one of the best pitchers in the league well into her 40s, instilling a love of sports to her children. She was an exceptional seamstress, decorator, yard keeper, and baker (homemade bread was one of her specialties). Most of all, Miriam was a loving daughter, mother and grandmother, devoting her time to those she loved.

Miriam was our angel wife and mother.  We will miss her every day until we are reunited again. We love you, Mom!

Miriam is survived by her husband, Blaine Imlay of St. George, Utah. Children: Stacie York (David) of Burley, Idaho; Julie Manuele (Marc) of St. George, Utah; Dave Imlay (Michelle) of Hurricane, Utah; Darren Imlay (Julie) of St. George, Utah; and Chad Imlay (Rose) of Manti, Utah:  Beloved brothers and sister: Doug Hafen (Laura), Kent Hafen (Diane), Sherman Hafen (Marry Louise), Arlyn Hafen (Jeanne) and Barbara Robinson (Thomas): 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren She is preceded in death by her parents and brother Wendell.

Miriam’s family would like to give a special thanks to the remarkable staff of The Retreat at Sunbrook and Rocky Mountain Hospice for the kindness and respectful care they provided to Miriam and her family. The family is eternally grateful.
