‘Stuff the Bus’ event helps school kids, offers family fun

ST. GEORGE – Bounce houses, pancakes and a water slide are among the offerings at an event Friday morning to gather school supplies for needy children.

This year’s “Stuff the Bus with Allconnect” event represents the second time United Way Dixie has partnered with Allconnect in an attempt to fill a full-sized school bus with school supplies in time for the new school year. The event is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.

The supplies will be stuffed into backpacks by Backpack for Kids and delivered to children in need through the Washington County School District Foundation.

Local groups, businesses and individuals are encouraged to participate.

Needed items include:

  • Full-size backpacks
  • Standard-size backpacks
  • Spiral notebooks
  • 1-inch black binders
  • Pencils
  • Highlighters
  • Glue sticks
  • Pens (black, blue and red ink)
  • Mechanical pencils
  • Erasers
  • Colored pencils
  • Binder dividers
  • Blunt tip scissors
  • 3-by-4-inch index cards
  • Crayons
  • Rulers

During the drive, free breakfast will be served from 8-11 a.m., as well as free Zeppe’s Italian Ice from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., all while supplies last. Group photos will be available in front of the school bus.
