ST. GEORGE — A driver on River Road suffered a medical episode Wednesday causing her car to crash into some rocks at the entrance to a residential area.
Based on a witness statement, St. George Police Officer Jamison Hale said the driver of a Ford Focus was southbound on River Road just after 3 p.m.
“He (the witness) saw the driver kind of slumped over the steering wheel,” Hale said, “crossed lanes of travel, knocked over one of those barricades out in the roadway … come across the intersection and hit the rock and … come to rest right there.”
The car came to a stop at the corner of 1710 South Street and River Road at the entrance to the Eagle Ridge residential area.
The female driver was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George where her condition was unknown at publication time. Due to this being a medical issue, no citations have been issued, Hale said.
St. George Police, St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the scene.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
