Mary Collins was last seen about 11 p.m. on July 4 at her home in Scenic, Arizona, which is right across the state line from Mesquite, Nevada.

Collins’ daughter notified the Mohave County, Arizona, sheriff’s office that her mother had not returned at 10 a.m. July 5 and the Mesquite Daily News reported that Collins had sent text messages to family members. Deputies then pinged Collins’ cell phone, which showed she was at a Mesquite, Nevada, casino.

Officers from the Mesquite Police Department went to the casino on the agency assist call and found Collins deceased in her van. The Clark County coroner’s office took custody of the body, but would not release any cause of death. Mesquite Police Department spokesman Quinn Averett said the scene was not suspicious.

According to an email from the Clark County coroner’s office received Monday, the case is still pending.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

How very sad and tragic. Had hoped for a more pleasant outcome.
