ST. GEORGE – Traffic at River Read and 700 South was temporarily impacted Thursday afternoon when a driver passed through a red light and triggered a collision in the intersection.
The collision occurred around 1:40 p.m. when the driver of a green Toyota northbound on River Road went through a red light and hit an eastbound gray passenger car, St. George Police Officer Tiffany Atkin said.
The southeast corner of the intersection was blocked off for about 45 minutes as St. George Police and other responders dealt with the scene and eventually cleared it.
Neither driver or occupants of the cars involved were injured and were cleared by responding medical personnel. Both cars had to be towed from the scene.
No citations were immediately issued as information concerning the collision was still being processed by police at the scene. However, Atkin said a citation related to the incident would likely be issued.
Units and personnel with the St. George Police and Fire Departments and Gold Cross Ambulance responded.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
