News short: Firefighters respond to truck fire on Webb Hill

ST. GEORGE – A vehicle fire on Webb Hill drew a swift response from firefighters Monday evening.

Around 8 p.m., units from the St. George Fire Department were dispatched to the location of the fire and began to see smoke as they neared the scene.

“When we got to the area we found a larger pickup truck fully involved (in fire),” St. George Fire Battalion Chief Robert Hooper said.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire quickly, which is fortunate, Hooper said, as it kept the fire from spreading to nearby brush.

The truck was a total loss and had to be towed from the scene.

Two fire engines and two brush trucks with their accompanying crews responded to the fire, Hooper said.

No injuries were reported in connection with the fire. The cause is under investigation.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
