ST. GEORGE — A 20-year-old St. George man driving a pickup truck slammed into a passenger car after running a stop sign Monday afternoon. Traffic on 2450 East Street was slow moving for about 45 minutes after the collision.
St. George Police Officer Lona Trombley said the wreck happened about 1:30 p.m. A Chevrolet pickup truck was westbound on 350 North approaching 2450 East. A silver Saturn was northbound on 2450 East.
The driver of the Chevrolet told officers he did not see the stop sign and entered the intersection at 2450 East without stopping.
“So when he entered, he blew through the stop sign and hit the silver Saturn,” Trombley said.
The female driver of the Saturn had lacerations on her arm and face, Trombley said. She was treated on scene by paramedics and transported in a private car to her doctor for treatment. The passenger in the Chevrolet complained of neck pain and was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center in St. George.
The driver, identified by Trombley as Oliver Tabora of St. George, was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign. All occupants were wearing seat belts at the time of the incident.
Units from the St. George Police Department, St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the scene.

The city should paint STOP on the roadways. Sometimes the stop signs are hard to see or a tree may block them.
I can agree with that. Maybe manufacturers should install cell phone jammers in vehicles too!

You can only hope. I must be a distraction in this city, always going against the grain, maybe people will pay attention to the road instead of me. I can say with confidence I haven’t ran a stop sign or been in a car accident here- I’m a paranoid driver, always looking at my surroundings 🙂
I don’t think STOP signs on the roads would make any difference. Trees and/or other types of vegetation, and their locations, should be more closely monitored and trimmed back if necessary. Municipal vehicles are on the streets constantly and their drivers should be on the lookout for potential problems and report them immediately. But mostly, imo, people need to BE MORE AWARE of their responsibility behind the wheel of a vehicle.
When all the cars and trucks will become self driven all this will stop
Just saw st George’s best and worst driver on bluff. A car came speeding south turning left in front of the best driver driving north that swerved and avoided the idiot and the car next to him all of this without braking and went back into his lane as if nothing happened. Cat like reflexes.
