Charles “Harry” Powell, resident of Ivins, Utah, passed away May 28. Harry was born Oct. 21, 1950, to Ernest Fredrick Powell and Elizabeth Mae (Ohmam) Powell. Leading to his passing, he was surrounded by friends and family.
Harry was a door gunman in the 4th Battalion 31st Infantry 196th Infantry Brigade Delta Company. He was awarded the Purple Heart for his services in Vietnam on Aug. 17, 1969.
Harry spent 21 years in the company of the Alano club, where he gained many lifelong friends. The support he gained while in their company meant a lot to him.
Harry loved the Denver Broncos and working as a mason.
He is survived by siblings Tom Powell of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Chris Alder (Mike) DeGrant of Denver, Colorado; and Sherriee Alder; his children, Nikki Powell Norris of Vancouver, Washington; Randi Powell of Cedar City, Utah; Tina Powell of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Ryan Codie (Maddie) Powell of Taylorsville, Utah; and his grandchildren, Braylon Bjorkman of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Rhyin Powell of Taylorsville, Utah.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Powell and Elizabeth Alder; his brothers, Freddy Powell and Russel Alder; and his sister Cindy Alder.
- Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 2, at 11 a.m. in the Spilsbury Mortuary, 110 S. Bluff St., St. George, Utah.
- Viewing will be held prior to services from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the Ivins City Cemetery, Ivins, Utah.
