June Rae Nelson, 89, passed away Friday, May 20, in Hurricane, Utah. She was born June 22, 1926 in Los Angeles, California, to loving parents Frank Lyman Gillespie and Blanche Elnora Lemmon. June was the youngest of their eleven children.
Her family moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, when she was 16. She attended Las Vegas High School. On June 16, 1946, she married Lawrence “Larry” Raymond Nelson, Jr., the love of her life. They were married 62 years until his passing in 2008. They had five children whom they loved very much. She was a full-time homemaker and kept a beautiful home.
She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints holding many positions in all organizations. They moved to St. George, Utah, where they lived for 28 years.
June is preceded in death by her husband, Larry, and baby boy, Frank. She is survived by her children: Linda (Steve) Heidelberg, Kathleen Dickman, Lawrence “Ray” (Gail) Nelson, III and Richard (Joni) Nelson; 15 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

- Funeral services will be held Friday, May 27, at 11 a.m. at the Metcalf Mortuary Chapel, 288 W. St. George Blvd., St. George, Utah.
- A visitation will be held Friday prior to services from 9:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Metcalf Mortuary.
- Interment will be in the St. George City Cemetery.
