ST. GEORGE — Loud ‘booms’ and explosions are expected to be heard in the St. George area Friday as part of an exercise used to test emergency first responders and medical personnel on their ability to quickly and effectively respond a catastrophic event.
The mass casualty exercise, conducted as part of the annual Utah Association of Emergency Medical Technicians three-day conference, will take place at the Ridge Top Complex in St. George.
“The Utah Bomb Squad Task Force is assisting in creating a scenario for class participants to triage patients with blast injuries,” the St. George Police Department said Friday.
The exercise is expected to take place at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Those in the St. George area and surrounding neighborhoods can anticipate two or three explosions during these times, according to the Police Department.
