ST. GEORGE – A bicyclist crossing the street narrowly escaped injury Friday afternoon as two cars collided at the intersection of Bluff Street and 700 South Street in St. George.

The bicyclist was crossing 700 South Street on the east side of the intersection when he heard the crash, St. George Police Officer Lona Trombley said. One of the two vehicles ended up inches from his bike tire.

“That had to have been scary for him,” Trombley said.

The collision happened at about 12:35 p.m. A Chevy Cruze driven by a 44-year-old woman was traveling north on Bluff Street and a 2015 Cadillac CTS driven by a 72-year-old woman was headed southbound.

The Cadillac made a left turn to go east onto 700 South and was struck by the Chevy. The driver of the Cadillac was cited for failure to yield on a left turn, Trombley said.

Both cars were towed from the scene and neither driver was transported to the hospital.

St. George Fire Department, St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the scene.
