SOUTHERN UTAH — The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather outlook statement for rain, small hail and gusty winds.
Affected area
Western two-thirds of Utah and far southwest Wyoming.
Tuesday afternoon and evening
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop across most of the area again today and continue into this evening. Small hail, gusty winds and lightning will accompany the thunderstorms.
Wednesday through Monday
Scattered showers and thunderstorms will develop again on Wednesday, but mostly stay limited to the southern and eastern outlook area and the mountains. Small hail, gusty winds and lightning will accompany the thunderstorms.
Southerly winds will increase Thursday across the western valleys. The winds will spread across most of the outlook area Friday with strong winds possible through the western valleys.
Southern Utah impacts
Cedar City, St. George, Washington City, Hurricane, Santa Clara, Enoch, LaVerkin, Parowan, Panguitch, Paragonah, Marysvale, New Harmony, Hatch, Garrison, Zion National Park and Summit.
Precautionary, preparedness actions
Strong winds with showers may occur well ahead of any rain. The National Weather Service advises that residents do not wait for the sound of thunder before taking cover.
