D’Arcy Grisier, who served as Commandant for three years, passed the Detachment colors to Dave Waters during ceremonies at the St George–Dixie Elks Lodge 1743.

Grisier, a veteran of 29 years service in the Marine Corps, served at the Detachment Commandant from 2013-2016. When he first joined #1270 in 2012, he served as Chaplain, and then in 2013, he took on the duties of Commandant. He will assume new duties as Junior Vice-Commandant.

“I’m looking forward to my new assignment as Junior Past-Commandant,” Grisier said.

Dave Waters served for 33 years in the Marine Corps retiring as a Colonel. He spent most of his career in aviation as a pilot. Waters joined the Detachment in 2013 and served as Senior Vice-Commandant and on the Donation Committee.

Also installed during the same ceremony was Larry Mineer as Senior Vice-Commandant. Mineer spent 4 ½ years active duty in the Marine Corps. He joined the Detachment nine years ago and until this assignment served as Sargent at Arms, Quartermaster and Color Sergeant, all at the same time.

Mineer will be the point of contact for anyone wishing to have the Detachment participate in or conduct military honors and ceremonies in the St. George, Utah, and southeastern Utah area.
