Motorcylist taken to hospital following collision with minivan

ST. GEORGE – A motorcycle rider was taken to the hospital Thursday following a collision with a minivan on N. Bluff Street.

Approximately 12:10 p.m., a minivan traveling north on Bluff Street clipped a motorcycle while attempting to turn right onto 1250 North. The collision caused the motorcycle to crash just off the roadway, St. George Police Officer Jamison Hale said.

The motorcycle rider was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center with possible injuries, Hale said, noting that the rider was wearing a helmet. The motorcycle was taken from the scene by a wrecker truck.

At the time, police had interviewed the driver of the minivan and a witness. The minivan’s driver said she was in the right northbound lane when she turned and clipped the motorcycle. The witness claims the minivan was in the left lane and moved into the right lane where the motorcycle was.

No citation was issued at the time as police had yet to interview the motorcycle rider.

The St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance also responded to the scene.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
