Dora Williams Blake

Dora BlakeMarch 10, 1934 — April 30, 2016

Our beloved Dora Williams Blake passed away April 30 at home in LaVerkin.  Born March 10, 1934, in Riverside, Idaho, to George R. and Tacy Winmill Williams, Dora and her family lived in Idaho until she was 13 years old when her family moved to LaVerkin, Utah. She married on July 21, 1951, in Las Vegas, Nevada, to Thomas A. Blake of St. George, Utah. They were sealed in the St. George Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Oct. 16, 1952.

They lived a short time in Washington, the Arizona Strip and Utah before settling in Boulder City, Nevada, where they raised their eight children. Dora finished her last semester of high school at Boulder City High School.

She served in many callings in the LDS church, including Relief Society President twice, a stake mission and four missions with Tom.

Dora is survived by: her husband, Tom Blake; their children: Keena (Jeff) Jorgenson, Phoenix, Arizona; Jeff (Dorcie) Blake, Mesa, Arizona; Dani (Keith) Bettridge, Wasilla, Alaska; Layna (Ken) Larsen, Nevada; Royal (Susan) Blake, Hurricane, Utah;  Wade (Amber) Blake, North Las Vegas, Nevada; Ben (Marcia) Blake, Las Vegas, Nevada, and foster daughter, Kory Moore, LaVerkin, Utah; her brother George R. (Deon) Williams, Jr., Enterprise, Utah; sisters, Lola (Jerry) Glazier, Hurricane, Utah; and Norma Bettridge, LaVerkin; 45 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents; son Thomas Kerry and daughter-in-law Paulette Blake; eleven brothers and sisters and their spouses; one grandchild; and two great grandchildren.

Funeral Services

  • Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 7,  at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Meetinghouse located on 70 S. 300 West, LaVerkin, Utah, at 11 a.m.
  • Viewings will take place at the chapel from 9-10:45 a.m.
  • Interment will take place at the LaVerkin Cemetery.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of  Serenity Funeral Home.
