ST. GEORGE — Authorities have released dash cam footage of a semitractor-trailer being toppled over by intense winds Sunday while traveling on Interstate 15.
“These videos are great examples as to why high wind warnings are issued, why we expect truck drivers to heed the warnings and pull over, and what could happen when they don’t,” Utah Highway Patrol officials said in a media statement Sunday.
Two videos shown in the media player above were taken from a UHP trooper’s dash cam. The footage shows two semis traveling in the windstorm along I-15 in Box Elder County.
One video shows a semi almost tipping over three times before the driver pulls over to the shoulder.
The other video captures a semi actually overturning in the wind.
The footage illustrates the dangers faced when high profile vehicles travel in high winds, UHP officials said.
In Farmington Sunday, the National Weather Service recorded winds of up to 91 mph – a Category 1 hurricane has sustained winds of 74 mph, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Sunday’s windstorm reportedly knocked down numerous large trees, signs and power lines in northern Utah while causing power outages and roof damage to homes, according to the weather service.

Is that a camera flaw, or is that officer driving with a crack that runs across his windshield? That is a ticketable offense.
He needs a citation.
It wasn’t the wind that flipped the trailer over it was all that hot air being spewed out of your mouth.
Let’s see….
