DSU rugby blazes way to league championship; STGNews photo gallery

ST. GEORGE — The Dixie State rugby club team completed a perfect league season by winning the conference championship at Hansen Stadium Saturday afternoon.

The DSU ruggers became the first team under the new “Trailblazers” nickname to win a championship by defeating Utah valley University 26-24.

“First team ever as a Trailblazer to win a championship,” said team captain Ben Jones. “Honestly, I don’t know what all was there because I was so focused.”

The win completes a perfect season for the Dixie State team in the Mountain States Collegiate Rugby Conference and earns the Trailblazers the trophy for the Western Rocky Mountain Region Championship.
