Kayenta Arts Foundation presents 6th annual Street Painting Festival

IVINS — The Kayenta Arts Foundation hosts its sixth annual Street Painting Festival Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Kayenta Art Village, 875 Coyote Gulch Court in Ivins.

The community is invited to enjoy the festival as they watch local artists and students create murals filling the village streets with vibrant color and vote for their favorite of the street paintings.

The festival brings students and professional artists together as they create the magnificent murals on an asphalt canvases.

Saturday morning, the first day of the festival, offers a unique look into the early sketches of the works that are to be created by local artists, as well as the student competition. As visitors return on Sunday they will have the opportunity to see artists at work, completing their masterpieces.

The festival hosts a variety of artists each year. This year’s festival features 19 artists, seven of which will be working on larger scale murals throughout the festival. Among those in attendance will be artists Aimee Bonham, Jay and Emalie Ball, Rebecca Haake, Stephanie Long, Donovan Fitzgerald and Rod Peterson.

Previous years have featured artwork by Donovan Fitzgerald, Rebecca Haake, Vanessa McCullough, Julie Kirk Purcell, Genna Panzarella, Lysa Ashley and Delphine Louie Anaya.
