Evelyn Harrison Moore was born March 11, 1929, in Lapoint, Uintah County, Utah.  She is the daughter of Russell Peter Harrison and Mildred Kesten Swensen.  Evelyn came from a large family of eight children, of whom three passed away in infancy. She grew up with three sisters: Cleo, Lorraine and Carol Jean; and a brother, Arvon Russell.  Evelyn’s childhood was spent in Lapoint on the family farm.  The family later moved to Taylorsville, Utah where she shared many fond memories of growing up with neighboring cousins.

While attending Granite High School, she met her future husband Norman Burgess Moore.  They were married 21 August 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.  Norman and Evelyn are the parents of eight children.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Burgess; son, Thomas; her parents; and seven siblings.

Evelyn was a devoted mother and grandmother and will be remembered for her kindness and selfless service to her family. She will be greatly missed.  She has been a resident of the St. George area for twenty four years.

Evelyn is survived by her children: Susan Brown (Mike) of Running Springs, California, Sandra Day (Michael) of Washington, Utah, Ellen Johnson (Don) of North Ogden, Utah, Bruce Moore (Debra) of  Fairfax, Virginia, Jerry Moore (Shannon) of St. Louis, Missouri, Karen Davis (Steve) of Boise, Idaho and Scott Moore of St. George, Utah; 32 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law: Leonard Tranter and Edward Moore (Joyce); and sister-in-law, Teresa Harrison.

Funeral Services

  • A visitation will be held in St. George on Monday, March 28, 2016, from 6-7 p.m. at Metcalf Mortuary located at 288 W. St. George Blvd.
  • Graveside services will be held in Salt Lake City, Utah on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Elysian Burial Gardens located at 1675 East 4580 South.
