October 18, 1979— March 19, 2016
Kayla Beth Whitney-Gause passed away Saturday, March 19, 2016, in St George, Utah. She was born October 18, 1979, in Chico, California, to Kim Whitney and Nancy Macpherson. She was married to William Gause on September 13, 2013, in St George, Utah.
Kayla was raised in Mission Viejo, California, and St George, Utah. She graduated from Dixie High in 1998. Kayla was a natural beauty, a California girl at heart. She loved the beach and In-N-Out. She loved good times. Her deep laugh was one of the favorite sounds her husband, Will, loved to hear. She enjoyed art and reading. Like her mother, she loved animals. Kayla especially loved her cats and big dogs. She had beautiful hands that she inherited from her Grandma Mac and a special touch she inherited from her Grandma Margrave. Kayla loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She always believed in the power of Priesthood blessings and would often call for them, especially from her father, Kim. She had a gentle spirit. She accepted all without judgment or guile. But above all, she was a mother with the purest love and selfless heart.
She was called to endure much in this life. She suffered from physical diseases like Ulcerative Colitis and mental health issues like Major Depressive Disorder and Anxiety. She bore her burdens well. She fought long and hard and endured the best she could. She found comfort in the Gospel of Jesus Christ and in the holy scriptures. One of her favorite passages was in Ether 12:27 of the Book of Mormon.
“And if men come unto me I will show unto them their weakness. I give unto men weakness that they may be humble; and my grace is sufficient for all men that humble themselves before me; for if they humble themselves before me, and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them.”
She is survived by her husband, Will, of St George; her daughter Emma (age 6) and son Arthur (age 4 months); her mother Nancy Taylor of St George; her father Kim Whitney of St George; her brother and sister-in-law Michael and Amy Whitney of Spokane, Washington; her brother and sister-in-law Eric and Rose Whitney of St George; her sister and brother-in-law Katy and Aaron Langston of La Verkin; her grandmother Jean Macpherson of St George; her father-in-law and mother-in-law Barkley and Donna Gause of St George.
