CEDAR CITY – A 21-year-old female was arrested for driving under the influence Friday after she rolled her 2014 Toyota Tacoma truck into a power pole.
The Utah Highway Patrol arrested McKaylee Marie Craw after she crashed her truck into the pole, breaking it in half, on Minersville Highway State Route 130 at milepost 10.2.
Craw, a Milford resident, had a 38-year-old male passenger with her at the time of the crash that occurred at about 3:15 a.m.
The Iron County Sheriff’s Office initially responded to the scene but when they were unable to locate the driver or the passenger of the vehicle, they called out Trooper Bambi Baie for assistance at around 3:40 a.m.
“When the officers couldn’t find them (occupants), they thought maybe it was a fatal accident and the occupants had been ejected from the vehicle,” Baie said.
Baie said both parties had left the vehicle after the accident and started walking.
“They were picked up by someone driving by who saw them walking and took them to the Cedar City Hospital to get checked out,” she said.
The passenger refused medical care at the hospital but the driver was evaluated and released to the custody of UHP.
Craw was booked in to the Iron County Correctional Facility on $1,540 bail.
