ST. GEORGE – Traffic at an intersection of Tabernacle Street near Dixie State University had to be directed around a two-vehicle collision Monday afternoon after one of the vehicles involved pulled out into oncoming traffic.

Around 4:45 p.m., a Ford F-150 was eastbound on Tabernacle Street when it collided with a northbound GMC Terrain SUV at the intersection of 800 East, St. George Police Sgt. Tyler Cowan said.
The SUV had been stopped at 800 East where a stop sign is located. When the driver began to turn right onto Tabernacle, the collision occurred.
The driver of the SUV told police she had been momentarily distracted by the sun and hadn’t seen the oncoming pickup truck, Cowan said.
The impact blocked the southeast corner of the intersection. Police officers directed traffic around the incident while the scene was cleared.
No one was injured in the crash. Airbags were deployed in both vehicles, which were towed away, Cowan said.
The driver of the SUV was cited for failure to yield to traffic after a stop sign.
St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance also responded to the incident.

Seriously can’t people wear sunglasses. Almost everyday there is an accident faulting the sun. Either they are distracted by something else(?) or they need a pair of sunglasses.
Sunglasses don’t always do the trick. You can be blinded by the sun, even while wearing good sunglasses. But a bit of caution when that happens is certainly called for.
If the sun is in her eyes then take extra precautions. It’s happened to most of us, that moment of the blinding sun. You just gotta chill for a second and make sure it’s safe to turn. Was she on her phone?
