KANARRAVILLE — Low temperatures and slick road conditions contributed to a single-car rollover early Thursday morning after the vehicle’s driver hit an ice patch on the on-ramp while trying to enter Interstate 15.
Utah Highway Patrol was dispatched to the northbound on-ramp to I-15 at Exit 51 near Hamilton Fort and Kanarraville at 7:01 a.m., Sgt. Ryan Bauer said.
When he arrived on the scene, Bauer said, he found the New Harmony man, who was driving the 1999 Blue Ford Ranger, walking around outside of the overturned truck.
The driver was nearing 40 mph as he was climbing the on-ramp toward the interstate when he hit a patch of ice and lost control, flipping onto the driver’s side of the car on the right side of the ramp, Bauer said.
Though the Ranger was likely a total loss and had to be towed from the scene, Bauer said, the driver, who was the only one in the vehicle, walked away unharmed. He was not cited.
