IRON COUNTY Thousands of residents of Cedar City and Summit are without electricity and Rocky Mountain Power officials are estimating power won’t be back on until around 10:30 p.m.

According to Rocky Mountain Power’s website, as of 8:13 p.m., power remains out in parts of Cedar City and Summit affecting approximately 1,143 customers, mainly those in the 84721 and 84772 zip codes.

The cause of the outage is emergency damage repair which is expected to be fixed and service restored by 10:30 p.m. A work crew is on-site and repairs are currently underway.

Customers are urged to turn off appliances that were in use when the power went out, and just leave one or two light fixtures on. This can prevent power demand from being too high when the system comes back online and can prevent further problems.

For updates on the power outage, see Rocky Mountain Power’s Web page.
