ST. GEORGE — Snow Canyon’s Dane Bulloch recorded a takedown in the 30th second of a one-minute overtime for a 4-3 win over Dixie’s Alec Gull for one of the highlights of Thursday’s Region 9 match.
“Dane Bulloch, with that win in overtime of his final home match, will have fond memories for years to come,” Warrior coach Nick Lang said of his 160-pound senior.
The two young men battled to a 0-0 tie through the first and second periods. Gull eventually built a 3-2 lead, but Bulloch pulled even with an escape with 12 seconds left in overtime.
The Warriors Desmond Wise and the Flyers Tim Miles also engaged in an exciting overtime battle. In fact, their match went into double-overtime before Wise recorded a 2-1 win, scoring a takedown to Miles’ escape.
“Reese Jones has worked hard against one of the toughest opponent, the scales, to get down to 113 and get a key win,” Lang continued. “And it was exciting to see Weston Jeppson win his final dual at home,” Lang said.
Dixie coach Jarad Carson was pleased with his team’s showing.
“We wrestled well in every match although we’re still a young team,” he said.
Carlson noted pins by Hobbs Nyberg at 138 and Jason Longmore at 152 as well as wins from Tanner Emerson at 170 and Cutler Thomas at 195.
In other region action, Cedar defeated Pine View 60-12. No information was reported on Desert Hills at Hurricane. The Redmen recorded eight falls, a technical fall and a major decision on their way to the win.
