Attention Kmart Shoppers: Stores closing in 9 states, St. George store safe

ST. GEORGE — Sears Holdings Corp., which owns the Kmart stores, has announced the closing of multiple store locations across the country.

Stores that will be closing are Sears and Kmart outlets in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Ohio and North Logan, Utah. According to the official notification, the St. George Kmart has been spared from closing.

News outlets across the country are reporting that local stores will begin the closing process with liquidation of their inventory beginning Jan. 24. The stores are expected to close in mid-April.

“The Kmart store in St. George will remain open to the public,” Sears Holdings Director of Corporate Communications Howard Riefs said in an email.

The manager of the St. George store on South Bluff Street, Alberto Rivera, had no comment other than to confirm the store is not closing.
