Just before 7 p.m., officers and emergency personnel were dispatched to an accident on South River Road and Foremaster Drive where they found two vehicles in the middle of the intersection, St. George Police Sgt. Wade Johnson said.

A woman driving a black Toyota Scion was westbound on Foremaster Drive approaching the intersection of South River Road when she turned left directly in front of an older model Ford pickup truck eastbound on a green light, Johnson said.

Unable to avoid the accident, the truck was struck by the Scion, sending both vehicles spinning in the middle of the intersection, Johnson said. The Scion finally ended up in the southbound lane of South River Road facing north, he said.

The woman driving the Scion told officers she thought she had the green arrow, however the light was green and the arrow was  not, Johnson said.

The airbags deployed in the Scion, leaving the driver stunned for several minutes but uninjured. The driver of the Ford also reported no injuries, Johnson said.

The man driving the Ford pickup, Stockton Myers, was on his way to rehearsal for the musical comedy “The Wedding Singer” showing later this month at the St. George Musical Theater. Myers, will be playing the lead role of Robbie Hart.

Myers said he still planned to attend rehearsal despite the accident.

The driver of the Scion was cited for failing to obey a traffic device.

The St. George Police and Fire departments tended to the scene. Traffic was delayed for approximately 30 minutes.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement and may not contain the full scope of findings.
