Sandy Hampshire, age 78, passed away Jan. 3, 2016, in St. George, Utah, after a seven-year battle with multiple myeloma. She was born Aug. 20, 1937, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Alexander E. Taylor and Bertha June Hixson. She married Paul Hampshire in Salt Lake City Sept. 24, 1971.
Sandy was raised in Salt Lake City and graduated from West High. She lived in Salt Lake until retirement in 1998, when she and Paul moved to St. George, Utah. Sandy was an avid golfer and bowler and belonged to both women’s golf and bowling leagues in Salt Lake and St. George.
Paul’s job allowed them to travel extensively, and together they visited many countries, from Europe to Asia. They also saw much of the United States while following their son, Todd, during his 28-year collegiate coaching career. She loved time spent with grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Sandy is survived by her husband, Paul; sister, Alexis Bailey, Denver, Colorado; son, Todd Bradford (Sondra), Lindon, Utah; daughters, Joni Fitzgerald (Don), Roosevelt, Utah, and Stephanie Prows (Reed), North Salt Lake, Utah; 18 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
- Visitations honoring Sandy will be held Thursday, Jan. 7, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Green Springs LDS Church, 860 N. Fairway Drive, Washington, Utah
- Additional visitations will be Friday, Jan. 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Lindon LDS Church, 1051 E. 200 South, Lindon, Utah.
- Interment will follow Jan. 8, at 3 p.m., in the Sandy City Cemetery.
