Lanae Murie Bladen

Anderson, Lanae Obit

May 22, 1965 – December 15, 2015

Lanae Murie Bladen, our beloved mother, sister, daughter, grandmother and friend, peacefully passed away in her home in St. George, Utah, Dec. 15, 2015, after a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis.

She was born May 22, 1965, in Cedar City, Utah, to Roger J. and Patricia Woolsey Murie. She was educated at Cedar City High School and continued her education at Southern Utah University. Lanae graduated summa cum laude with her bachelor’s degree in business education. She had recently received her master’s degree from Capella University in online education.

Lanae married her high school sweetheart, Neil Preston Bladen, Nov. 28, 1981. They were married for 18 years and from this union came four children.

Shortly after graduating from SUU and moving to St. George, Lanae began teaching at Millcreek High School. She worked as a math and economics teacher there for 28 years. Lanae’s legacy will forever live in all the lives of the students she touched.

She loved each and every one of her students that ever walked through her classroom door. Toward the end of her career, she also became an online educator, teaching for Capella University and K-12 online high school.

Lanae’s deepest interest revolved around being a loving nurturer. Her hobbies were her children, grandchildren, taking care of animals, scrapbooking, gardening, teaching and traveling. Lanae was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully in the Relief Society, Young Women’s and Primary.

Lanae is survived by her children, Bobbi (Luke) Simkins of Cedar City, Bryce (Blaire) Bladen of Eagle Mountain, Utah, Brandon (Whitney) Bladen of St. George and Austin Bladen of St. George; and seven grandchildren, Summer, Preston, Case, Julie, Hudson, Harper and Morley. She is also survived by her parents, Roger and Patricia Murie of Cedar City; her grandmother, Zina Woolsey of Cedar City; and her brothers, Ross (Kaisa) and Bret Murie of Cedar City.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Mel and Ila Murie and Ross Woolsey.
