ST. GEORGE — A former employee at a fast food restaurant in St. George was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly stole at least $10,000 from the business.
Jeramiah William Grant, 39 and a former manager at Carl’s Jr. located at 136 N. Red Cliffs Drive, was reportedly employed by the business for 15 years, according to a probable cause statement filed by the St. George Police Department in support of the arrest.
Grant had the responsibility of withdrawing $2,000 at a time from a designated bank account to be deposited into an ATM located inside the fast food restaurant, the statement said. However, Grant allegedly failed to deposit $11,000 into the ATM which he had withdrawn from the banking account.
When Grant was questioned about the ATM, he quit, according to the statement of probable cause.
Grant admitted to the business’ operations manager via text, the statement said, as well as to police, that he was in possession of the last $2,000. However, Grant said he left the money in his car and it was stolen, but he did not want to report it.
“I asked Jeramiah what happened to his ATM keys,” the arresting officer wrote in the statement. “He stated he lost them. First (he) said two weeks ago, then a month ago, then two months, then he did not know. Jeramiah states he does not know what happened to the rest of the $11,000.00.”
Grant was arrested and booked into the Washington County Purgatory Correctional Facility and charged with second-degree felony theft.
He was released from custody on $10,000 bond and is scheduled to make his initial court appearance Friday afternoon in 5th District Court.
Grant was previously arrested in August for his alleged involvement in a disturbance in the area of 600 South and 500 East in St. George that involved possible gunfire, prompting a response by the St. George on-call negotiations and SWAT teams.
In that matter, he was charged with assault, reckless child abuse, domestic violence in the presence of a child and intoxication.
Persons arrested or charged are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law or as otherwise decided by a trier-of-fact.

Yup, he thinks society owes him. He needs to get a job, stop being an overgrown brat bully.
He had a job… he embezzled from that job then quit when he was caught. Not very bright. But then again, it’s a fast food establishment. It’s not like he needed a degree.

I guess he should have gotten that raise to $15 per hour.
