Here’s what you need to know about navigating Little Sahara Recreation Area this winter

FILLMORE — The Bureau of Land Management Utah Little Sahara Recreation Area visitor center will close for winter from Nov. 28 to Feb. 18, 2016. While the center is closed, BLM staff will not be available to assist LSRA visitors, but the recreation area will remain open.

Starting Nov. 1, water to the RV flush/dump station, the White Sands Campground and all of the flush restrooms were shut off. The vault toilets will remain open throughout the winter in all of the campgrounds. The flush/dump station will remain open during the winter, but no water will be available. Frost-free potable water systems will remain in service and available.

The public is still required to pay the daily use fee at the self-pay fee station and law enforcement will continue to patrol the recreation area. The public is reminded to take all appropriate safety measures, including not riding alone, using protective equipment and wearing clothing suited to adverse weather conditions.

All emergencies should be called in to 911. Non-emergencies can be reported by calling the Juab County Sheriff’s Office at 435-623-1626.

Any LSRA maintenance related issues should be reported to LSRA outdoor recreation planner Jay Cram at 435-433-5960 or 801-971-6592.

LSRA season passes and gift certificates are still available at the BLM-Utah Fillmore Field Office, 435-743-3100 and the BLM-Utah Salt Lake Field Office, 801-977-4300.
