ST. GEORGE A two-vehicle accident was set in motion on Riverside Drive and River Road in St. George Wednesday evening when a driver failed to yield while entering the intersection.

The St. George Communications Center received a call just before 8 p.m. advising of an accident near the intersection of Riverside Drive and River Road, St. George Police Sgt. Rich Triplett said.

A driver heading east on Riverside Drive was making a left-hand turn at the River Road intersection and struck a Jeep going west on Riverside Drive. Both vehicles were damaged in the collision.

Traffic was slowed to a halt and was then directed by officers for approximately 30 minutes while emergency personnel tended to the scene.

No injuries were reported in connection with the accident.

The vehicles were still operable, but only one was driven from the accident scene, as the driver of the Jeep did not have valid insurance.

The Jeep driver was cited for having no insurance, and the vehicle was impounded.

The driver of the other vehicle was cited for failure to yield and drove away from the accident scene, Triplett said.

The St. George Police Department, St. George Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance responded to the accident.

This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.
